The Cadbury Creme Egg martini is my creation, born out of a desire to craft something that marries the sweet, comforting flavors of one of my favorite childhood treats—the Cadbury Crème Egg—with the fun of cocktail mixing.
The idea first came to me when a customer mentioned how much they loved the creamy chocolate and gooey filling of the egg but wished there was a way to enjoy it in a drink form.
I’ve always had a knack for turning desserts into drinks, so I went to work experimenting.
I started with vanilla vodka, which brought that smooth, comforting sweetness to the drink, like the sugar-coated shell of the Crème Egg.
Then I added chocolate liqueur (crème de cacao), which gave the drink a deep, rich chocolate base that mirrored the egg’s milk chocolate shell.
I knew Irish cream liqueur would be the key to bringing out the egg’s gooey filling flavor, so I added it to provide that creamy, rich texture.
The half-and-half (or cream) softened it all, adding a velvety mouthfeel that makes this drink so indulgent. To bring a little balance, I added a touch of simple syrup, but only if needed, since the other ingredients were already sweet.
The garnish was just as important to me. I wanted to create that nostalgic moment—seeing the actual Cadbury Crème Egg, which is such a well-loved Easter treat, floating in the drink.
It made the experience both playful and luxurious, reminding people of the joys of the holiday and giving them that familiar sense of comfort.
I’m grateful to the wonderful candy makers at Cadbury who brought the Crème Egg to life. This cocktail is my tribute to their creation, mixing the sweet indulgence of the egg with the craft of cocktail-making to create something new.
Flavor Profile
Taste: Sweet, creamy, and chocolatey with a hint of vanilla and caramel.
Texture: Smooth, velvety, and dessert-like.
Sweetness: Rich and indulgent with the perfect amount of sweetness, but not overwhelming.
Food Pairings
Some of my favorite food pairings with the Cadbury Crème Egg Martini are:
Chocolate desserts: Think chocolate mousse or a decadent flourless chocolate cake. The richness of the chocolate in both the martini and dessert elevates the experience.
Fruit-based pastries: A raspberry or strawberry tart pairs well, providing a fresh contrast to the sweetness of the drink.
Cheese: A mild cheese, like brie, complements the sweetness of the martini, offering a balance between creamy and tangy.
Peanut butter treats: Peanut butter brownies or peanut butter cups work wonders here, as the salty-sweet combo plays off the chocolate notes in the drink.

Cadbury Creme Egg Martini
There are few Easter treats more iconic than the Cadbury Crème Egg — that unmistakable blend of milk chocolate and sweet fondant center. So when the chance to craft a cocktail that captures the same rich, indulgent flavor came along, I couldn’t resist.
Ingredients
- 1½ oz chocolate liqueur (such as Mozart or Tempus Fugit)
- 1 oz vanilla vodka
- 1 oz Irish cream liqueur (like Baileys)
- ½ oz crème de cacao
- ½ oz heavy cream
- Chocolate syrup (for drizzling inside the glass)
- Optional garnish: a Cadbury Crème Egg on a cocktail pick or chocolate shavings
Instructions
- Prepare the Glass: Chill a martini glass ahead of time. Before pouring, drizzle chocolate syrup around the inner rim in a swirl pattern to mimic the gooey chocolate shell.
- Build the Cocktail: In a cocktail shaker, combine the chocolate liqueur, vanilla vodka, Irish cream, crème de cacao, and heavy cream.
- Shake: Add ice to the shaker and give it a vigorous shake for about 15 seconds — the goal is a silky, well-chilled texture.
- Strain & Serve: Strain the mixture into the prepared martini glass. The chocolate swirl will create a stunning visual effect as the cocktail settles.
- Garnish: For the perfect finishing touch, balance half a Cadbury Crème Egg on a cocktail pick across the rim or sprinkle chocolate shavings on top.
FAQ
Q: Can I make the Cadbury Crème Egg Martini without Irish cream liqueur?
A: Yes, if you want to skip the Irish cream, you could substitute with heavy cream or use a different creamy liqueur like Baileys salted caramel for a unique twist.
Q: Is this cocktail too sweet?
A: It’s on the sweeter side, which is what makes it a great dessert drink. If you prefer something less sweet, reduce the simple syrup or opt for a more bitter chocolate liqueur.
Q: Can I prepare this cocktail in advance?
A: I wouldn’t recommend fully preparing it in advance, as the cream can separate if left too long. However, you can mix everything except the ice and store it in the fridge for a short time. Just give it a good shake with ice when you’re ready to serve.
Q: Can I use a different chocolate liqueur?
A: Absolutely! You can experiment with different chocolate liqueurs, like Godiva, Mozart, or even a dark chocolate version for a deeper chocolate flavor.
